inZOI's Upcoming Karma System and Ghostly Encounters

inZOI game director, Hyungjun Kim, recently unveiled plans for a unique Karma system, introducing a paranormal twist to the game's realistic setting. This system will determine the fate of deceased Zois, transforming them into ghosts based on their accumulated Karma points.

High Karma Zois will transition to the afterlife, while those with insufficient points will linger as ghosts, tasked with accumulating Karma to move on. The specific actions required to increase Karma remain undisclosed.

Kim emphasized a balanced approach, stating that ghost interactions will be carefully controlled to avoid overshadowing core gameplay, but will still offer engaging experiences. Currently, interactions with ghost Zois are limited to specific times and conditions.

Kim expressed a desire to explore more fantasy elements in the future, suggesting that these paranormal additions will add a unique layer of depth and fun to the simulation.

A Glimpse into Karma Interactions

A sponsored video by MadMorph, a Krafton Inc. partner, offered a sneak peek at the Karma Interaction system. This system allows players to perform actions that either increase or decrease Karma points. The video showcased a humorous example: secretly farting on another Zoi's face. Other options, such as "Throw Away Trash" and "Like a Friend’s Post," suggest a range of positive and negative interactions.

While the Early Access version (releasing March 28, 2025 on Steam) will focus on the living Zois, the Karma system's full impact will be revealed later.
