GTA 6 will not initially launch on PC, even though it has a big market share

Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently addressed the company's staggered platform release strategy, particularly concerning the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI. Zelnick confirmed that delaying the PC release of GTA 6 will result in a significant revenue shortfall—approximately 40% of typical PC sales—but emphasized the company's commitment to a non-simultaneous release across platforms.

This approach aligns with the historical release pattern of the GTA franchise, where PC releases have consistently been delayed. This strategy, in part, stems from Rockstar's complex history with the modding community. However, Zelnick clarified that the decision isn't a response to declining PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sales; GTA 6's release strategy remains independent of console market performance.

Projecting a fall 2025 release for GTA 6, PC gamers may face a wait extending into 2026. The game's launch is highly anticipated not only by Take-Two but the entire gaming industry. The initial teaser trailer shattered several YouTube records, fueling speculation that GTA 6 could surpass the $100 million sales mark, potentially setting a new benchmark and positively impacting other game developers and publishers.
