Far Cry 4 Hits 60fps on PS5

Author : Aiden Update : Oct 31,2025

Eleven years after its initial release, Far Cry 4 now supports 60 frames per second (fps) gameplay on PlayStation 5.

Discovered by user gael_74 and shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, the latest patch notes for Version 1.08 confirm the addition of "60 FPS support on PS5 console."

For those who haven't experienced it yet, this enhancement makes now the perfect time to dive into Far Cry 4. The game boasts one of the franchise's most memorable villains, Pagan Min, while transporting players to Kyrat - a vibrant Himalayan open world where vertical terrain serves as more than just scenery, becoming an integral part of combat, hunting, and exploration.

In our Far Cry 4 review, IGN awarded the game a "great" 8.5/10, praising: "While character development may fall short, Far Cry 4 delivers exceptional freedom across its campaign, cooperative, and competitive multiplayer modes."

Far Cry 4 joins several other PS4-era Ubisoft titles that have received similar performance upgrades in recent years, including Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. Unsurprisingly, this has sparked renewed interest from the Far Cry community, with players in the subreddit now hoping for similar 60 fps updates for other franchise favorites like Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.

The timing proved unfortunate for some players, with one lamenting: "You've got to be joking - I literally just earned the platinum trophy three days ago."

This update follows Ubisoft's recent formation of a subsidiary focusing on its flagship franchises (Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six), backed by a €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Chinese tech giant Tencent.

The company recently announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows surpassed 3 million players, a crucial milestone following a challenging period marked by commercial disappointments, workforce reductions, studio shutdowns, and project cancellations - all while Ubisoft's stock value hit record lows.

In related news, Ubisoft quietly implemented Steam Achievements for the 12-year-old Splinter Cell: Blacklist earlier today.
