LEGO Launches In-House Gaming Ventures

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has recently shared the company's ambitious plans to enhance its digital footprint by venturing into video game development. This strategic move involves both independent projects and collaborations with other developers, aiming to enrich the LEGO experience across digital and physical platforms.

"We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing." - Niels Christiansen

This expansion into gaming does not signal an end to LEGO's partnerships with third-party developers. For example, recent reports from journalist Jason Schreier indicate that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed games, is currently developing a new title possibly connected to a Warner Bros. franchise.

LEGO's most notable gaming endeavor at the moment is its collaboration with Epic Games. The introduction of a LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite last year was a resounding success, becoming one of the game's most popular features. This partnership highlights LEGO's commitment to integrating its brand into major digital platforms.

Over the years, LEGO has been closely associated with the adventure game series crafted by TT Games. Although the studio has been relatively quiet about new releases, there are whispers of a potential LEGO Harry Potter game on the horizon, inspired by the commercial triumph of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Further showcasing LEGO's adaptability in the gaming sector, the company teamed up with 2K Games to launch LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game released last year. This move underscores LEGO's dedication to exploring diverse gaming genres and maintaining a strong presence in the digital entertainment landscape.
