Ticket to Ride launches new Switzerland expansion

The latest expansion for the digital strategy board game, Ticket to Ride, introduces an exciting new route to Switzerland. With the Switzerland Expansion, players can now explore and develop routes through Switzerland and its neighboring countries, enhancing their railroad empire-building experience. This expansion not only opens up new geographical areas but also introduces fresh gameplay mechanics that will challenge both new and seasoned players to adapt their strategies.

In celebration of the holiday season, developer Marmalade has released this expansion as a special gift to the Ticket to Ride community. The Switzerland Expansion brings two new characters and four new tokens into the mix, adding a festive touch to your gameplay. The new routes and mechanics are designed to encourage a dynamic play style, ensuring that every game session is both engaging and challenging.

A key feature of this expansion is the introduction of country-to-country tickets, which require players to connect one country to another as specified on the ticket. These tickets offer multiple options, allowing players to choose between different connections such as France to Germany, Italy, or Austria, each yielding different point values upon completion. Similarly, city-to-country tickets challenge players to link a specific city to a country, adding another layer of strategic planning.

Each country in the game has a set number of nodes, which players must strategically utilize to establish the most advantageous routes. When completing a round, players earn points based on the highest-scoring connection on each ticket. However, failing to make any connections results in a penalty equal to the lowest value on the ticket, adding a risk-reward element to the game.
