"Oblivion Remastered Retains Original Game's Iconic Line Mistake"

Author : Skylar Update : May 12,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings new life to one of Bethesda's most cherished titles, enhancing visuals and gameplay while preserving some of its most iconic elements. Despite the overhaul, Virtuos, the team behind the remaster, chose to retain one of the original game's most memorable lines.

Many long-time fans of The Elder Scrolls series will recognize Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion was first released for PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, it became evident that Tandilwe's speech could benefit from some additional training. Her voice line includes a recording that has been widely believed to be a mistake, featuring actress Linda Kenyon's attempt at re-recording a line.

As players embarked on their journey through the revamped Cyrodiil, many were eager to discover the extent of the remaster's fidelity. While the environments, character models, and items have been significantly updated, fans have been delighted to find that many of the quirks that made the original 2006 Oblivion so beloved are still present. Tandilwe’s notorious blooper, complete with its lack of subtitles, has returned to the delight of many fans.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon acknowledged the infamous Oblivion blooper that became an internet sensation, stating emphatically, "It wasn't my fault!"

While thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates continue about whether it leans more toward a remake or a remaster. Yet, many appreciate the preservation of the game's original charm and quirks. Bethesda and Virtuos were committed to maintaining these elements, and the reception from both new and veteran players has been overwhelmingly positive.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was surprise-launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S yesterday. For those interested in more, the modding community has rallied to release numerous mods shortly after the remaster's announcement.
