With an extensive cast of characters, it can be challenging to determine which ones are worth investing in. AFK Journey Tier List

Before diving into the tier list, it's important to note that most characters in AFK Journey are viable for general gameplay. However, some characters shine brighter in high-level endgame scenarios. This tier list evaluates characters based on their versatility, effectiveness in regular PvE content, Dream Realm, and PvP performance.

S-Tier Characters

The introduction of Lily May has brought a significant boost to Wilder teams, making her a must-pull since Vala's initial banner. Her high damage output and utility as a rogue-type character make her invaluable in countering Eironn teams in PvP, pushing AFK stages, and enhancing Dream Realm boss teams. Thoran remains the premier free-to-play tank, while Reinier stands out as the top support for both PvE and PvP, particularly in Dream Realm and Arena. Koko and Smokey and Meerky are essential supports across all game modes, with Odie excelling in Dream Realm and PvE. For PvP enthusiasts, building Eironn alongside Damien and Arden creates a formidable Arena team. Tasi, added in November 2024, is another versatile Wilder character excelling in crowd control, while Harak, a Hypogean/Celestial Warrior, gains strength and sustainability throughout battles.

A-Tier Characters

In the A-Tier, Lyca and Vala stand out for their effective use of Haste, a crucial stat in AFK Journey. Lyca's party-wide Haste boost and Vala's self-stacking Haste upon killing marked enemies make them excellent choices for various team compositions, though Lyca may struggle in PvP. Antandra serves as a reliable alternative tank to Thoran, offering taunts, shields, and crowd control. Viperian complements Thoran and Cecia, enhancing the Graveborn core with energy-draining and AoE attacks. Alsa, introduced in May 2024, is a strong DPS mage fitting well into the current PvP meta, especially when paired with Eironn. Phraesto, added in June 2024, is a durable Hypogean/Celestial tank but lacks damage output. Ludovic, from August 2024, is a powerful Graveborn healer, synergizing well with Talene. Cecia has been downgraded to A-tier due to shifts in the Dream Realm meta, while Sonja, added in December 2024, enhances the Lightborne faction with her damage and utility.

B-Tier Characters

The B-Tier characters are suitable for filling roles until you can replace them with higher-tier options. Valen and Brutus are strong early-game DPS characters, with Brutus excelling in crowd control. Granny Dahnie is a decent tank with debuffs and heals. Arden and Damien, though not as useful in PvE, are crucial for PvP arena teams when paired with Eironn, Carolina, and Thoran. Florabelle, added in April 2024, supports Cecia at Mythic+ but requires significant investment. Soren, introduced in May 2024, performs adequately in PvP but is outclassed in other modes. Korin has been moved to B-tier due to changes affecting his Dream Realm effectiveness, with Odie becoming the preferred DPS choice.

C-Tier Characters

C-Tier characters are useful early on but quickly become outclassed beyond AFK level 100. Parisa, for instance, served well as a team mage initially but is soon overshadowed by better options. While she has some utility in PvP, it's advisable to replace her as soon as possible.
