Helldivers 2 Truth Enforcers Warbond Brings New Weapons, Armor Sets, and Cosmetics
Enforce the Truth for Super Earth This October 31, 2024
Just in time for Halloween, Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony are set to launch the Truth Enforcers Warbond on October 31, 2024. According to Katherine Baskin, Arrowhead's Social Media and Community Manager, this Warbond isn't just about aesthetics—it's a comprehensive arsenal upgrade designed to transform players into Super Earth's official Truth Enforcers.
For those new to the concept, Warbonds in Helldivers 2 operate similarly to a battle pass in other live-service games. Players can unlock items using earned Medals, and unlike traditional battle passes, these Warbonds are evergreen. Once purchased, you retain access indefinitely and can unlock their contents at your own pace. The Truth Enforcers Warbond will be available for purchase at the Acquisitions Center on the Destroyer ship's menu for 1,000 Super Credits.
As detailed in the official PlayStation Blog post, the Truth Enforcers Warbond is centered around upholding the Ministry of Truth's rigorous standards. Players will have access to an assortment of cutting-edge weapons and armor sets, all crafted to equip Helldivers to face any challenge head-on.
One way to demonstrate your loyalty to Super Earth is by wielding the new PLAS-15 Loyalist Plasma Pistol. This versatile sidearm can fire semi-automatically for quick responses or deliver charged shots for greater impact. For those needing more firepower, the SMG-32 Reprimand is a rapid-firing submachine gun perfect for close-quarters combat. Meanwhile, the SG-20 Halt shotgun offers robust crowd control with its ability to switch between stun rounds and armor-penetrating flechette rounds.
To showcase your dedication to Super Earth's ideals, the Warbond includes two new armor sets: the UF-16 Inspector, a sleek, light armor with red accents and the "Proof of Faultless Virtue" cape, ideal for agile players; and the UF-50 Bloodhound, a medium armor designed for those who prefer a more robust defense, featuring red accents and the "Pride of the Whistleblower" cape. Both sets come with the Unflinching perk, which minimizes the staggering effect from incoming hits.
In addition to these capes, players can unlock a variety of banners and cosmetic patterns for hellpods, exosuits, and Pelican-1. The Warbond also introduces the "At Ease" emote, reinforcing the serious commitment of the Truth Enforcers within Helldivers 2's satirical, militaristic setting.
The Warbond also introduces the Dead Sprint booster, enabling players to sprint and dive even when their stamina is depleted. This high-risk, high-reward feature could be a game-changer in intense situations, allowing for swift maneuvers at the cost of health.
Helldivers 2’s Promising Future Despite Initial Player Base Decline
Despite a strong launch earlier this year, with a peak of 458,709 concurrent Steam players (not including PS5 players), Helldivers 2 saw a decline in its player base. This was largely due to over 177 countries being locked out of the game following Sony's initial requirement to link Steam accounts to the PlayStation Network. Although Sony later reversed this decision, the game remains inaccessible in these regions.
The game's Steam concurrent player count fell to around 30,000, but the Escalation of Freedom update in August temporarily boosted it to over 60,000. However, it failed to sustain this number. Currently, Helldivers 2's Steam concurrent player count sits just below 40,000.
Whether the Truth Enforcer Warbond can reignite the game's popularity is yet to be determined. However, the accompanying trailer promises a wealth of engaging content that may draw old players back to fight for truth, justice, and Super Earth.
