Marvel Unveils First Look at Baby Franklin Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps Trailer

Marvel has debuted a new trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, offering the first glimpse of baby Franklin Richards while finally delivering the iconic line fans have anticipated.

While much of the trailer mirrors previous footage promoting ticket sales for the upcoming MCU film, we see a revealing new shot: Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) and Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) cradling baby Franklin - marking the character's first visual appearance.

Why This Matters

Vanessa Kirby (playing Sue Storm) recently teased in Empire Magazine: "It's not just adults that have superpowers." The trailer confirms Franklin will appear as an infant, which carries major implications for the MCU.

As we reported in April:

Comic readers recognize Franklin as potentially the most powerful mutant in existence. Marvel Studios is introducing a character who can rewrite reality itself - a power rivaling cosmic entities like Galactus. The Fantastic Four comics have shown adult Franklin establishing himself as a multiversal guardian.

Kirby's comments suggest we may witness Franklin manifest abilities in the film. Could he experience rapid aging to help battle Galactus? Does this imply the story spans years?

Other Reveals

The trailer finally delivers fan-favorite moments including Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) enthusiastically yelling "Hell yeah!" when Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) asks "Is it clobberin' time?"

With the July release approaching, director Matt Shakman recently addressed speculation about Robert Downey Jr.'s possible involvement as Doctor Doom, seemingly denying the rumor while leaving room for post-credits surprises.

Previous announcements confirmed this will be the longest MCU film since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023). A leaked Snapple promotion also gave us our clearest view yet of Ralph Ineson's Galactus design, while Funko Pop! figures accidentally revealed other character details.
