Oscar Isaac Confirmed for Star Wars Celebration, Fuels Return Rumors

Author : Natalie Update : Apr 26,2025

Star Wars Celebration 2025 is set to feature an exciting appearance by Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac, fueling speculation about the return of his beloved character, Poe Dameron, to the Star Wars universe. The official Star Wars Celebration Instagram account recently confirmed Isaac's participation at the event, which will be held in Tokyo from April 18 to 20. This announcement follows Daisy Ridley's appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2023, where she revealed her involvement in an upcoming film centered around her character, Rey. Fans are now buzzing with anticipation, wondering if Isaac might make a similar announcement regarding Poe Dameron's future in the galaxy far, far away.

The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with "Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker," and since then, Isaac has expressed a range of sentiments about his involvement with the franchise. Initially, in 2020, he humorously stated he would return only if he needed "another house or something." However, by 2022, his stance had softened, telling Variety that he had "no real feeling one way or another" and was therefore "open to anything." Isaac has also been vocal about his dissatisfaction with Disney's rejection of his proposal for a romantic subplot between Poe and John Boyega's character, Finn, citing that the "overlords were not ready for that." Similarly, Boyega has expressed mixed feelings about his time with the franchise but has also indicated openness to future roles.

Speculation is rife about the potential return of all three main characters from the Sequel Trilogy in the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after the events of "The Rise of Skywalker." In this new installment, Rey will be focused on rebuilding the Jedi Order. Daisy Ridley has already voiced her desire for Boyega to join her in the film, and with Poe completing the trilogy's main trio, his return seems plausible. Fans might get definitive answers at Star Wars Celebration 2025, but otherwise, they'll have to wait patiently to see how the story unfolds.

The anticipation is heightened by Disney's repeated delays of the upcoming Star Wars films, despite having more than a dozen projects announced. The Rey film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, has yet to be finalized, with its earliest potential release date now set for December 17, 2027. As fans eagerly await more news, the possibility of seeing the iconic trio reunite on screen continues to captivate the Star Wars community.
