"Dune: Awakening Delay Extended by Three Weeks for Beta-Driven Improvements"
Dune: Awakening, the highly anticipated open-world survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's films, has been rescheduled for release on June 10, 2025. Funcom, the game's developer, announced this delay while also revealing that players eager to dive in early can access the game on June 5 by purchasing the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition.

The reason behind the delay, as stated by Funcom, is to allow the development team additional time to refine the game. This decision was influenced by feedback from the ongoing Persistent Closed Beta, enabling the team to implement requested changes and improvements. Additionally, this extra time will facilitate a large-scale beta weekend next month, offering even more players the chance to experience the game and provide their input.
While the delay might be disappointing for some eager fans, Funcom is set to host a combat livestream today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This stream will delve deeper into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, offering a closer look at what players can expect.
At IGN, we're genuinely excited about Dune: Awakening. As mentioned in our hands-on preview, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after enduring dehydration and sunstroke during my day in Arrakis, I'm convinced that Dune: Awakening is a game to watch."
