Get Your Pet
As soon as you dive into Diablo 4 Season 7, head to the nearest town with a Wardrobe and interact with it to claim your pet. While pets don't participate in combat, they're invaluable for automatically collecting gold and materials scattered across the battlefield. This feature significantly reduces the time you'd otherwise spend gathering resources, allowing you to focus on the thrill of combat and loot collection.
Grab Your Mercenaries
If you've got the Vessel of Hatred expansion, make your way to the Den to recruit a Mercenary. Solo players can enlist up to two Mercenaries, which not only eases the leveling process and enhances combat but also allows you to build Rapport with them, unlocking additional rewards.
Follow the Seasonal Questline and Level Up
Start on Normal difficulty and follow the new seasonal questline, easily identified by green leaf icons on your map. This questline introduces you to all the new mechanics of Season 7, including Headhunt zones, Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, and the intriguing Witch powers. Although the questline itself is relatively short, with a few puzzles to solve, it primarily involves farming Favors in Headhunt zones. This is also the most effective method to level up to 60. Focus on defeating Headhunt zone bosses, collecting Favors, and upgrading your Witch powers simultaneously.
Unlock Your Class Power
A convenient quality-of-life feature this season is that you no longer need to complete class-specific priority quests if you've already done so on another character. However, you must first log in with that character on the Eternal realm. For example, if you're planning to play as a Rogue in Season 7, log in with a previously created Rogue who has completed the priority quests. Then, when you log in with your new Season 7 Rogue, your class power will automatically unlock upon reaching the required level.
Headhunt Zones
While navigating the Headhunt zones, prioritize completing Whispers. With four zones active at any time, aim for the smallest and most compact ones to benefit from higher enemy density, which allows for quicker mob farming and Whisper completion. Focus on these two Whisper quests:
- Fugitive: Requires you to recover a head or destroy a husk, activated by defeating Elites and interacting with roots.
- Shepherd: A straightforward task of escorting animals around the map.
Upon collecting 10 Grim Favors, exchange them at the Tree of Whispers for a cache. Remember, a Raven of the Tree appears in each Headhunt zone, allowing you to turn in Favors without needing to teleport back to the Tree of Whispers.
Witchcraft Powers
At the Tree of Whispers, interact with the Altars of Witchcraft to purchase and enhance your Witchcraft powers using Restless Rot, obtained from defeating the new Rot enemies. While the initial purchase is affordable, upgrading these powers is costly. Prioritize powers that offer direct damage boosts for their passive damage benefits. Additionally, certain Witch powers can only be acquired from Forgotten Altars, which you may encounter in regular dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Pits, and Rootholds once you reach Torment 1 difficulty. Increase your chances of finding these altars by consuming a Draught of Whispers.
Rootholds
Rootholds, a new dungeon type introduced in Diablo 4 Season 7, become accessible by using Whispering Wood, which you can earn from completing Whispers and opening Silent Chests. These dungeons operate like a rogue-lite mode, similar to Infernal Hordes, where you can activate negative modifiers to improve loot quality. As you progress, you can open Exposed Roots for loot, with the modifiers affecting the number and quality of these roots. It's advisable to save your Roothold keys until you reach Torment 1, as they are the best source of Ancestral loot this Season.
Occult Gems
Late in the game, you can craft powerful Occult Gems by speaking with Gelena at the Tree of Whispers. These gems, which can be slotted into your jewelry, outperform regular gems but are costly to craft, requiring ample Restless Rot and Heads. Heads can be obtained from Roothold bosses and Fugitives in Headhunt zones, with the Draught of Whispers increasing your chances of acquiring them from bosses.
Pits, Infernal Hordes, and Nightmare Dungeons
Don't forget to include Pits and Nightmare Dungeons in your routine. Nightmare Dungeons are essential for acquiring Glyphs, while Pits are crucial for leveling them up. Additionally, farming Infernal Hordes will provide you with masterworking materials necessary to enhance your Uniques.
