Firaxis Games Unveils Post-Launch Roadmap for Civilization VII
Firaxis Games recently detailed the post-launch roadmap for Sid Meier's Civilization VII during a livestream event. The roadmap outlines substantial updates planned for 2025, including paid DLC and free content updates.
Several DLC packs are slated for release, adding Leaders, Civilizations, and Natural Wonders. The first paid DLC, the "Crossroads of the World Collection," is a two-part release. Part one (early March) includes Leader Ada Lovelace, four Natural Wonders, and the Carthage and Great Britain civilizations. Part two (late March) features Leader Simon Bolivar and the Bulgaria and Nepal civilizations. Free content, including new Natural Wonder events and Wonders themselves (Battle event and Bermuda Triangle in early March; Marvelous Mountains event and Mount Everest in late March), will also launch alongside the paid DLC.
Further paid DLC, the "Right Rule Collection," is scheduled for summer 2025, adding two new leaders, four new civilizations, and four New World Wonders. Additional free content and updates are planned between April and September. Firaxis has committed to post-launch support extending into October 2025 and beyond. Specific release dates remain unannounced.
A developer diary blog post expands on these plans, promising additions such as multiplayer team support, larger multiplayer lobbies, enhanced map variety, and modding tools. These features will be released as soon as feasible, following initial updates addressing bugs, balance adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements.
The livestream also showcased multiplayer gameplay, highlighting diverse strategic approaches to victory. A Q&A session addressed community questions.
Sid Meier's Civilization VII launches on February 11th for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Early access begins February 6th with the Deluxe Edition.
