"Ultimate Engine Tweaks: The Top Mod for Oblivion Remastered Boosts PC Performance"

If you're a fan of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered* on PC, you may have encountered its notorious performance issues. According to Digital Foundry's tech experts, the game struggles significantly on PC. Video producer Alex Battaglia described it as "perhaps one of the worst-running games I've ever tested for Digital Foundry."

"Even with the most powerful hardware, the stuttering is egregious, severely impacting the gameplay experience to the point where it's baffling how it was deemed acceptable for release," Battaglia remarked.

"Beyond the stuttering, the game is unusually resource-intensive. Even if you can tolerate the stutter, you'll need to lower settings to maintain a decent frame rate," he added.

PlayIt's no surprise then that the most popular mod on Nexus Mods for Oblivion Remastered is P40L0’s ‘Ultimate Engine Tweaks (Anti-Stutters - Lower Latency - No Film Grain - No Chromatic Aberration - Lossless),’ which has seen a staggering 386,604 downloads in just one week.

The mod's description reads: "Definitive Unreal ‘Engine.ini’ changes aimed at eliminating most stutters, boosting performance and stability, reducing input latency, and enhancing picture clarity without any visual loss."

"After extensive testing with UE5, I wanted to share my definitive custom ‘Engine.ini’ tweaks for the game," P40L0 explained. "My objective was to incorporate as many optimizations as possible across CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD to minimize stuttering, improve performance, lower input latency, and enhance image quality by removing Film Grain & Chromatic Aberration, optimizing DLSS/FSR upscaling, and more—all without compromising visuals or causing glitches or crashes."

View 6 ImagesFeedback from those who have installed the mod has been overwhelmingly positive. "Stutter be gone! Simply amazing, thanks!" exclaimed chubbyd07. "This .ini is a miracle. From 15-20 fps outside the prison to 65-70 stable. Running on 3600XT and a 2060 with 20GB of RAM," added yeeto51. "Uhm, what the hell! I went from 60fps on High Preset around Waynon Priory to 90-110fps on the same location. Wizardry!!" said BabaSmith.

Despite its PC performance issues, *Oblivion Remastered* remains incredibly popular, boasting a high concurrent player peak on Steam and over 4 million players across all platforms. On Steam, it enjoys a 'very positive' user review rating.

However, a recent hotfix released on April 25 has caused issues for Microsoft Store players, particularly affecting UI settings for graphics, such as upscaling and anti-aliasing. At the time of writing, those playing via Game Pass for PC cannot adjust these settings due to the UI problem. Bethesda is actively working on a solution.
