R.E.P.O Console Release Confirmed
*R.E.P.O.*, the cooperative horror game that launched in February, has captured the attention of gamers, boasting over 200,000 players on PC. However, fans eager to know if *R.E.P.O.* will make its way to consoles might be disappointed. As of now, *R.E.P.O.* is exclusively a PC game, and its developer, semiwork, has not announced any plans for a console version. The small development team is currently focused on perfecting the game's multiplayer features, which have encountered some challenges.
A significant hurdle for semiwork is enhancing the multiplayer mechanics while preventing the game from becoming a hotspot for cheaters. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you're ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don't work with an anti-cheat system. And we don't want that," the developer explained in an interview with PCGamer. This challenge needs to be resolved before any thoughts of porting *R.E.P.O.* to consoles can be entertained.
While some PC-only titles like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the process. Other games with similar themes, such as *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, have also remained exclusive to PC. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* mentioned they were exploring a console release but cited technical difficulties, and there have been no further updates since.
So, the current stance on *R.E.P.O.* coming to consoles is clear: semiwork has not shown any interest in pursuing a console version and is instead concentrating on refining the multiplayer experience for PC players.
