Pokemon TCG Pocket Pack Hourglasses Remain Essential for Future Expansions
The Pokemon Company has officially confirmed that Pack Hourglasses will continue to function in upcoming Pokemon TCG Pocket expansions, dispelling recent rumors suggesting their obsolescence. This means players can confidently continue accumulating these time-saving items.
The October 2024 launch of Pokemon TCG Pocket, largely replacing Pokemon TCG Live, introduced the Mythical Island booster pack with 68 new cards. While some players completed the initial Genetic Apex packs (226 cards across three packs) before this release, speculation arose that the anticipated January expansion might render Pack Hourglasses useless. However, The Pokemon Company's statement directly contradicts this, assuring players that hourglasses will consistently reduce booster pack opening delays by one hour, regardless of the expansion.
This clarification also addresses earlier suggestions of a new in-game currency for expansion-specific hourglasses. While such a system might be implemented in the future, it's explicitly not part of the upcoming 2025 expansion.
Pack Hourglass Mechanics & In-Game Currency:
Without Pack Hourglasses, players rely on Pack Stamina, replenishing at 12-hour intervals, allowing for two pack openings daily. Hourglasses are obtainable through daily challenges and the daily-refreshing Complimentary Item Set in the shop. Each hourglass reduces the stamina wait by one hour (12 needed for a full 12-hour cycle). Beyond Pack Hourglasses, the game utilizes various currencies: Wonder Hourglasses, Special/Event/standard Shop Tickets, Poke Gold, and Pack Points.
