"Nintendo Switch 2: Joy-Con Mouse Controls for Home Menu Navigation"

Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen, adding a new dimension to the user interface navigation. Ever since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, enthusiasts have been buzzing with excitement about the potential applications of the new Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Just last month, we received official word that the Joy-Con can switch to "mouse mode," enabling players to glide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to replicate left-click and right-click actions, much like a traditional mouse. What's more, two Joy-Con can be used in this mode at the same time, either with one in each hand or one in standard mode while the other operates in mouse mode.

Now, Nintendo has further expanded on this feature. As demonstrated on the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2.

Nintendo has provided clear instructions on how to use this feature: "Place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, and a cursor will appear on screen," they explained. "To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown."

Additionally, Nintendo noted, "While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus. Use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To revert to using the thumbstick, simply reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.

Although we're still in the dark about the full extent of game compatibility, Nintendo has already showcased the mouse controls working seamlessly with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the unique wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
