Minecraft Live 2025 Unveils Vibrant Visuals, Flying Happy Ghast

Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of new updates and content for the world's best-selling video game. The year's first game drop, aptly named "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update will bring a fresh wave of enhancements to the Overworld, making biomes feel more immersive and alive. Players can look forward to new variants of classic mobs like cows, pigs, and chickens, as well as captivating ambient features such as the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the gentle whispers of sand. These additions promise to enrich exploration and bring the game's world to life in new ways.

The second game drop of the year, yet to be named, introduces innovative gameplay elements. A new block called the Dried Ghast will be introduced, which can be rehydrated to transform into a Ghastling—a baby ghast variant. With care, this Ghastling can evolve into a Happy Ghast, which players can ride using a specially crafted Ghast harness, allowing up to four players to soar through the skies together. This feature will be particularly useful for builders in Survival Mode, offering a unique way to navigate and position themselves in the game world.

In addition to these updates, Mojang shared an exclusive clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event. This event will take place in Midport Village from March 25 to April 7, where players can join Steve and his companions in defending the village from a piglin attack through three engaging mini-games. Completing all challenges during the event will reward players with the coveted Yearn cape.

During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about the developer's stance on future developments. Mojang has no plans to create a Minecraft 2, make the game free-to-play, or utilize generative AI in its development process.

• The Dried Ghast is slightly smaller than a regular block and features cute little tentacles and a grumpy face.
• If you pick up the Dried Ghast from the Nether and place it in water, it will eventually transform into a much happier Ghastling.
• The Ghastling floats around the Overworld like a little balloon. Feeding it snowballs will help it grow into a flying Happy Ghast.
• With a crafted harness, you can ride the Happy Ghast, allowing you and up to three other players to fly around together.
• The new Locator Bar feature, positioned at the bottom of the screen, helps you locate your friends, which is particularly useful when flying on a Happy Ghast.
• Mojang stated that the Happy Ghast will be beneficial for Survival Mode builders, as it offers a way to position in the sky similar to Creative Mode but within Survival.
