Leaked Nintendo Switch 2 Rumors Stir Controversy

Nintendo Responds to Switch 2 Leaks from CES 2025

Following a series of Nintendo Switch 2 leaks originating from CES 2025, Nintendo has issued a rare public statement. The company confirmed that the images circulating online are not official, citing its absence from this year's CES. While this statement is self-evident, it's noteworthy for Nintendo's generally tight-lipped approach to leaks.

The Switch 2 has been the subject of numerous leaks since late 2024, coinciding with reports of the console entering mass production. Accessory manufacturer Genki displayed a purported Switch 2 replica at CES 2025, sparking widespread online discussion.

In response to an inquiry from the Sankei Shimbun, Nintendo clarified that the images and videos of Genki's replica are unofficial due to their non-participation in CES 2025.

Genki's Replica: Accurate or Not?

Nintendo offered no opinion on the accuracy of Genki's replica. However, the replica aligns with existing leaks and rumors, suggesting potential validity. The most significant difference from the original Switch is an additional button, labeled "C," located below the right Joy-Con's home button. Its function remains unknown.

Genki CEO Eddie Tsai, while unable to comment on the "C" button, shared additional details, including claims of magnetic Joy-Con attachment and mouse-like controller functionality—claims corroborated by previous reports.

Nintendo's Timeline and Pricing Speculation

Nintendo previously stated its intention to reveal the Switch successor during its fiscal year 2024 (ending March 31, 2025). With approximately 80 days remaining, anticipation remains high. A retail launch isn't expected before the second quarter of 2025, with a rumored price point of around $399.
