Enabling Balatro Cheats
To unlock the power of Balatro's debug menu and its cheats, you'll need the free, open-source 7-Zip utility. Locate your Balatro installation directory (typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Balatro). If you can't find it, navigate to your Steam library, right-click Balatro, select "Manage," then "Browse Local Files."
Right-click Balatro.exe and choose to open the archive using 7-Zip (this might be under a "Show More Options" menu depending on your OS and 7-Zip settings). Locate conf.lua and open it with a simple text editor like Notepad.
Modify the line _RELEASE_MODE = true to _RELEASE_MODE = false, save the changes. If saving is problematic, extract conf.lua to your desktop, make the alteration, and replace the original file. Success! Press and hold the Tab key in-game to access the debug menu.
To disable cheats, simply reverse the _RELEASE_MODE parameter back to true in conf.lua.
Using the Debug Menu
Balatro's cheat menu is user-friendly. Unlock items by hovering and pressing '1'; add jokers by hovering and pressing '3'. Initially limited to five jokers, pressing 'Q' four times on a joker in hand transforms it into a negative, effectively increasing your joker limit.
