How to Watch the Predator Movies in Chronological Order

Author : Penelope Update : May 17,2025

Humans often pride themselves on being at the top of the food chain on Earth, but in the vast expanse of the galaxy, we're just another species in the cosmic hunt. The Predator franchise, which kicked off with the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger film in 1987, introduces us to the Yautja—tall, trophy-hunting aliens who scour different planets for the ultimate challenge. These extraterrestrial hunters have been known to abduct various species for their lethal games back on their home world.

The first two Predator films, released in 1987 and 1990, laid the groundwork for this thrilling saga. Given the cinematic menace of the Xenomorphs from the Alien series, it was a natural progression in the 2000s to merge these two universes with the Alien vs. Predator films. In the next decade, directors like Robert Rodriguez, Shane Black, and Dan Trachtenberg each brought their unique vision to the franchise.

With two new Predator movies slated for release in 2025, now is the perfect time to dive back into these sci-fi classics. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the series, we've got you covered with a complete guide on how to watch every Predator movie in order. Below, you'll find the full timeline of the Predator movies and where to watch them online.

4. AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)

After a 14-year hiatus, the Predator returned in a crossover with the Alien franchise, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson of Resident Evil and Event Horizon fame. Alien vs. Predator revitalized both series, setting the stage in present-day America and revealing a centuries-old connection between the Yautja and Xenomorphs. The Predators have been using Earth as a hunting ground, breeding humans to create Xenomorphs for their rites of passage. The film stars Sanaa Lathan, Lance Henriksen, Raoul Bova, and Ewen Bremner.

6. Predators (2010)

Directed by Robert Rodriguez, Predators breaks the mold by setting the action on a distant planet serving as a Yautja game reserve. The film features a stellar cast including Adrien Brody, Walton Goggins, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, and Alice Braga, and explores how humans, specifically known killers, are abducted for sport by rival Yautja tribes. While the exact Earth year is unclear, it's generally assumed to be around 2010.

7. The Predator (2018)

Eight years after Predators, Shane Black returned to the franchise he once starred in, directing The Predator. This film brings the series back to its roots, featuring a group of unstable soldiers, portrayed by Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, and Alfie Allen, who face off against two Predators and their sinister plan involving DNA splicing. The movie ends with a tease for future installments, with alternate endings hinting at a crossover with the Alien franchise.
