BioWare delivers good news and bad news for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The game will launch without Denuvo DRM, but PC players will miss out on preloading.
Good News: No Denuvo DRM!
Bad News: No PC Preload
BioWare's Michael Gamble announced on Twitter (X) that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not include Denuvo anti-piracy software. This decision, welcomed by many PC gamers who often cite performance issues associated with DRM, means players can expect a smoother gaming experience. Gamble also confirmed that the game will not require an always-online connection.
However, this DRM-free approach means PC players will be unable to preload the game, a significant drawback given its 100GB+ size. Console players, however, will have access to preloading. Xbox early access players can install now; PlayStation early access begins October 29th.
System requirements were also revealed. High-end PCs can leverage ray tracing and uncapped frame rates. Minimum specs aim for broad accessibility. Consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) offer fidelity (30 FPS) and performance (60 FPS) modes. To fully utilize PC ray tracing, you'll need an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT graphics card.
