Naomi Ackie in Talks for DCU’s Clayface Horror Film

Clayface begins to take form as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Mickey 17 star Naomi Ackie enters early talks for the upcoming DCU film directed by Speak No Evil's James Watkins.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals Ackie emerged as the top choice after a recent reading session. While negotiations are expected to begin shortly, she would join confirmed lead Tom Rhys Harries (known for British TV roles) if cast.

Horror maestro Mike Flanagan, celebrated for adapting classics like The Haunting of Hill House and creating original stories across film and television, wrote the screenplay.

The story follows a rising actor who suffers facial disfigurement at the hands of criminals. Desperate to restore his appearance, he turns to an unorthodox scientist (described by THR as an "Elizabeth Holmes-style" figure) whose experimental treatment appears successful—until horrific consequences emerge, as expected in this body horror thriller. While Ackie's potential role remains undisclosed, speculation suggests she may portray the dubious scientist—an inspired casting choice.

The project reportedly channels the vibe of David Cronenberg's 1986 body horror masterpiece The Fly. The Batman director Matt Reeves produces alongside Lynn Harris and DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The film is slated for theatrical release on September 11, 2026—with more casting announcements expected soon.
