Clayface comienza a tomar forma mientras Naomi Ackie, protagonista de Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker y Mickey 17, inicia conversaciones preliminares para la próxima película del DCU dirigida por James Watkins, director de Speak No Evil.

The Hollywood Reporter revela que Ackie surgió como la candidata principal tras una reciente sesión de lectura. Aunque se espera que las negociaciones comiencen shortly, ella se uniría al protagonista confirmado Tom Rhys Harries (conocido por sus papeles en la televisión británica) si es elegida.

Si bien el posible papel de Ackie no se ha revelado, se especula que podría interpretar a la científica dudosa, una elección de casting inspirada.

Según los informes, el proyecto captura la esencia de la obra maestra del terror corporal de David Cronenberg de 1986, La Mosca. El director de The Batman, Matt Reeves, produce junto a Lynn Harris y los jefes de DC Studios, James Gunn y Peter Safran.
