Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will encounter various NPCs, leading to quests ranging from small tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who requests activation of a second measuring device atop a silo. While brief, it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to STC Malachite facilities.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

To begin "For Science!", locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Approaching triggers a radio call from Mongoose to Skif, initiating the encounter. Inside the Central Elevator, bypass the conveyor belts, ascend the rusted stairs, vault the railing, and speak with Mongoose. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, thus starting the mission.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

After the conversation, climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. Exit through a broken window, descend the external ladder, and traverse the walkway to the silos. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the device. Activating the device attracts Bloodsuckers. Choose to fight or evade them to reach Mongoose.

The Confrontation with Yaryk Mongoose

Upon reaching Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice has significant long-term consequences. Killing Mongoose yields the Malachite pass from his corpse. However, choosing the peaceful option rewards both the pass and coupons. The Malachite pass provides access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main missions.
