'Year of the Snake' Sizzles with Metal Gear Solid Performance
Happy Snake Year! 2025 marks both the Year of the Snake in the Chinese zodiac and a significant year for Metal Gear Solid fans. Read on for exciting news about the franchise's future.
A Fortunate Convergence
David Hayter, the iconic voice of Solid Snake and Big Boss, celebrated the Year of the Snake on Bluesky, hinting at a momentous year for the character and the series. Hayter's return as Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake adds to the excitement.
Konami also acknowledged this auspicious coincidence with a New Year's greeting video featuring a taiko drum performance and calligraphy of the kanji for "snake," culminating in a bold "SNAKE YEAR" announcement. This clearly signifies a year not only for the Chinese zodiac animal but also for Solid Snake himself.
Since its May 2024 announcement, followed by a Tokyo Game Show trailer and demo, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has been relatively quiet. However, producer Noriaki Okamura recently told 4Gamer that delivering a high-quality, polished game in 2025 is a top priority and a significant challenge.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Expect next-gen enhancements, including the return of Phantom Pain mechanics, and new voice work from the original cast.
