Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager
Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, confirms that Hollow Knight: Silksong is still under active development and will eventually be released. This follows recent speculation sparked by a cake-related profile picture change by a co-creator, which proved to be unrelated to any announcement.
Official Confirmation
Griffin's statement on X (formerly Twitter) directly addressed fan concerns, reassuring them that the game's development is ongoing and a release is planned. This marks the first official update on Silksong's progress in over a year and a half.
Initially, the news of the cake led to widespread speculation, including rumors of an ARG or a Nintendo Switch 2 announcement. However, these proved unfounded. Griffin's subsequent confirmation, while brief, provides much-needed clarity for anxious fans.
A Long-Awaited Sequel
Announced in February 2019 with an initial release window of the first half of 2023, Silksong was delayed in May 2023 due to the game's expanded scope and the developers' desire for further refinement. The delay, now nearing two years, has understandably led to impatience among fans.
While the confirmation is welcomed, reactions have been mixed. Some fans express relief and offer encouragement to the developers, urging them to avoid succumbing to external pressure. Others, however, remain frustrated by the lack of concrete details and consider the update insufficient.
Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game follows Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to a new kingdom. Although a release date remains unannounced, further updates are anticipated.
