SEGA Stars Join Sonic Rumble for Epic Crossover Debut!
Sonic Rumble, despite not having launched globally yet, has already kicked off its highly anticipated crossover event featuring some of SEGA’s most beloved icons. Dubbed Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars, this event is live now and runs until May 7th, just before the worldwide release on May 8th.
Currently in soft launch mode, Sonic Rumble is available in over 40 countries. Its initial pre-launch phase took place during Summer 2024, debuting in regions such as the Philippines, Scandinavia, and Colombia. In the second pre-launch phase, the game expanded to include Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, and additional territories.
What’s Inside the SEGA Stars Crossover?
If you reside in one of the regions where Sonic Rumble is already available, you can jump straight into the SEGA Stars crossover. The iconic Altered Beast characters are back, offering the Werewolf transformation absolutely free.
Nostalgic fans of beast modes will be thrilled to hear that both the Werebear and Weredragon are now available. The Weredragon is part of the Premium Pass, while the Werebear might be purchasable with regular rings depending on availability.
Adding a touch of Fantasy Zone charm, Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa join the roster. Opa-Opa is included in the Premium Pass, whereas Upa-Upa can be obtained via fragments purchased with standard rings, each costing 700.
AiAi and MeeMee from Super Monkey Ball have also joined the crossover. AiAi can be acquired for 729 Red Star Rings, while Upa-Upa remains accessible through ring fragments. For a visual preview, check out the event trailer below.
Earn Exclusive Rewards During the Crossover
Players can collect SEGA logos during matches to earn bonus goodies. Interestingly, SEGA has confirmed that most of these pre-release rewards will reappear after the global launch. This adds excitement, knowing that early adopters will receive continued benefits.
The crossover dives deep into SEGA’s storied history and present catalog, blending iconic franchises like monkeys, sentient arcade ships, and were-things alongside Sonic and his pals. This blend gives Sonic Rumble a promising and unique vibe.
