Ananta: NetEase's Open-World RPG Unveiled

NetEase Games and Naked Rain have officially revealed the title of their enigmatic Project Mugen: Ananta. A new PV and teaser trailer showcase gameplay and offer a clearer picture of this urban, open-world RPG.

The preview video highlights Nova City, a sprawling cityscape ripe for exploration, a diverse cast of characters, and a looming threat from otherworldly forces of Chaos. While comparisons to MiHoYo's titles, particularly Zenless Zone Zero, are inevitable, Ananta distinguishes itself, particularly in its impressive movement mechanics. The game promises a blend of charming characters and dynamic combat, a popular formula in today's 3D RPG landscape.

Fluid Movement and Exploration

The PV showcases impressive character movement. The extent of explorable space within the cityscape remains unclear; whether traversal will be limited to instanced areas (like streets and rooftops) or allow for more free-flowing, Spider-Man-style exploration is yet to be seen.

While Ananta shares similarities with MiHoYo's Hoyoverse titles like Genshin Impact, NetEase's ambition is clear. The true test will be whether Ananta can carve its own niche and potentially challenge the reigning champions of the 3D gacha RPG genre.
