Each Spotlight Hour features a specific Pokémon, offering increased chances of catching it and even snagging a Shiny variant. Here's the lowdown on this week's event.

Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour

Mark your calendars! The Spotlight Hour runs from 6 PM to 7 PM Local Time on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This week's featured Pokémon are Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, doubling your chances for Shiny catches! Both offer significant combat advantages, particularly when extra damage is crucial.

With two Pokémon in the spotlight, prepare for a busy hour. Stock up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense to maximize your catches and shiny hunting success. Also, clear some space in your Pokémon storage – you'll be catching a lot!

Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), a Kanto region Pokémon, is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon Home. Catching it yields 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 Candies. Boasting a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb packs a punch.

Remember, Voltorb is Electric-type, meaning it takes increased damage from Ground-type moves (160% Damage) but reduced damage from Electric, Flying, and Steel types (63% Damage). The optimal moveset is Spark (Electric) and Discharge (Electric), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack power. Keep an eye out for its blue Shiny form.

Hisuian Voltorb, also #100 in the Pokédex, shares Voltorb's family lineage and stats (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack), tradeability, and transferability to Pokémon Home. Catching it also rewards 3 Candies and 100 Stardust, and it evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 Candies. While also Electric-type, its type matchups differ slightly.

Hisuian Voltorb takes increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison types (160% Damage), and reduced damage from Grass, Steel, Water, and other Electric types (63% and 39% Damage, respectively). Its best moveset is Tackle (Normal) and Thunderbolt (Electric), providing 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather enhance its damage output. Its Shiny variant features a black body instead of orange.
