Pokémon GO Unveils Highly Anticipated Feature Update, Now Available
Pokemon GO's Fashion Week: Taken Over event introduces a highly anticipated feature: remote raid pass compatibility with Shadow Raids. This limited-time event, running from January 15th, 12:00 a.m. to January 19th, 8:00 p.m. local time, allows trainers to participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids remotely or in person.
This presents a unique opportunity. Shadow Raids during this period offer increased chances of capturing Pokémon with superior Individual Values (IVs). The convenience extends to the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day on January 19th (2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. local time), where remote participation is also enabled, boosting the odds of catching a Shiny Shadow Ho-Oh and teaching it Sacred Fire. Furthermore, Charged TMs can be used to remove Frustration from Shadow Pokémon.
While this is a temporary addition, fulfilling a long-standing player request since Shadow Raids launched in 2023, the positive reception could influence Niantic's future decisions. The current limitations on in-person raid participation for certain battles have drawn criticism, making the potential permanent implementation of remote raid passes for Shadow Raids a welcome prospect for many. Whether this remains a one-time event or becomes a standard feature remains to be seen.
