Hello, gaming enthusiasts! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise game releases! Let's dive in!

News

Partner/Indie World Showcase: A Bounty of Games

Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved a smart move, delivering a flurry of announcements. While a complete rundown is impossible here, highlights include the surprise releases discussed in the "New Releases" section, Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the remastered Suikoden I & II, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new installments in the Atelier and Rune Factory franchises, and many more. I highly recommend watching the full video—it's well worth your time!

Select New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania compilation makes a surprise appearance! This collection features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, along with an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. This release offers superb emulation and a wealth of features, making it an exceptional value.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer is another surprise release. Players race through five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will find this a must-have, but even those without a strong Wario preference should consider it if they enjoy fast-paced platforming. A review is planned.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

More unexpected releases! It's Goat Simulator 3. If you're familiar with the series, you know what to expect. While performance on the Switch isn't confirmed, it's worth noting that more powerful consoles have experienced some challenges. Approach with caution, but even subpar performance might add to the game's chaotic charm. It's a silly, open-world goat simulator—your Switch might not appreciate it!

Peglin ($19.99)

Electronic Arts missed a golden opportunity by not bringing PopCap's games to the Switch. Peglin scratches that Peggle itch perfectly. Available on mobile for some time, it shines on the Switch. Essentially a Peggle-meets-roguelike RPG hybrid, a review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft adds a licensed twist to their shop simulation formula with Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story. Featuring characters from the beloved Doraemon franchise, it's a solid effort that even includes cameos from the manga artist's other works.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for fans of the original! Up to eight players can join in local or online multiplayer. Puzzle stages demand cooperation and strategic thinking. Great for those who enjoyed the first game, but unlikely to attract many newcomers.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

A budget-friendly rhythm game featuring music from Kamitsubaki Studio. Simple, enjoyable, and well-priced.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels of crate-pushing fun.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Players utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
