Guns Undarkness: A Stealth-Focused JRPG
The upcoming Steam Next Fest will feature a playable demo of Guns Undarkness, a turn-based tactical RPG blending elements of Metal Gear Solid and Persona. This exciting project is spearheaded by Shoji Meguro (Persona series composer), Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell character artist), and rapper Lotus Juice (known for his work on Persona 3).
Meguro, a veteran composer at Atlus since 1995, transitioned to indie development in 2021 while continuing collaborations with Atlus. Guns Undarkness, initially revealed at Indie Live Expo Winter 2021 and successfully funded via Kickstarter in 2022, is published by Kodansha Game Creators Lab.
The demo, launching February 24th, 2025, offers approximately 20 minutes of gameplay, covering tutorials on controls, combat, weapons, and early-game strategies. Early Access is planned for Spring 2025 on PC, with around 10 hours of content. A precise release date remains unannounced.
A World on the Brink
Set in a dystopian 2045, players assume the role of a private military company operative, embarking on missions alongside allies to uncover the secrets threatening humanity's survival. Gameplay is split between stealth sections, where undetected movement provides combat advantages, and turn-based battles utilizing various firearms.
