Obsidian RPG Avowed Can Hit 60FPS on Xbox Series X

Author : Victoria Update : Mar 18,2025

Obsidian Entertainment's upcoming RPG, Avowed, will achieve a smooth 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series X. Game director Carrie Patel confirmed this to MinnMax, though details remain scarce. While the Xbox Series S version will remain capped at 30fps, as previously announced, it's unclear whether the Series X version will offer selectable performance and graphics modes—a common feature in modern games—or if 60fps is the default setting.

Avowed launches on February 13th for those purchasing the premium edition ($89.99), with the standard edition ($69.99) following on February 18th. This staggered release, a recent industry trend, has already been abandoned by some publishers like Ubisoft.

Set within the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG prioritizing player choice. The narrative unfolds through a rich tapestry of war, mystery, and intrigue, allowing players to forge alliances or rivalries as they explore the land. IGN's final preview lauded the game's nuanced conversations, player agency, and overall enjoyment, concluding that "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
