Nintendo Switch 2: 120fps, 4K Resolution When Docked
The long-awaited details about Nintendo's upgraded console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been unveiled, and the specifications are more impressive than many anticipated. One of the standout features is the system's ability to support 120fps and up to 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant leap in performance from its predecessor.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased various aspects of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to the original Switch, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. The display now features about double the pixels, supporting a 1080p resolution in handheld mode at up to 120fps. It's an LCD screen with HDR capabilities, and when docked, it can handle up to 4K resolution with HDR as well.The new Joy-Con 2 controllers are magnetically connected and can be detached using a release button located on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides have been enlarged for better horizontal play, and the left and right analog sticks are also larger. This presentation also officially introduced mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone equipped with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. Additionally, it features a larger and more robust stand that can be adjusted to various heights. A top USB port is available for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.
We also learned that the Nintendo Switch 2 comes with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
