Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel

Square Enix marked NieR’s 15th anniversary with a series of announcements, including the launch of an online special novel titled [U]ndecided Option. This novel will be released in three parts, with the first installment already available and the subsequent updates scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's intriguing synopsis hints at a story involving a 'servant' who encounters a mysterious boy.

In addition to the novel, Square Enix introduced a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, which serves as the main hub for the special novel and other upcoming projects and events celebrating the franchise's milestone.

Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More

Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other specifics will be shared soon.

The NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 will also expand with additional performances in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are currently available through a lottery system, with more information accessible on the concert’s official website.

Fans can also look forward to new merchandise, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024, the comprehensive NieR Weapon Story book with over 650 stories, and scale figures of the series' protagonists.

Re[in]carnation Developer Blog

Starting April 28, the NieR Re[in]carnation team will launch a developer blog series, providing monthly insights into the creation process of the mobile title throughout the year. Originally released in January 2021, the game was discontinued in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The announcement of the developer blog has sparked speculation about a potential sequel or remake, though no official confirmation has been made.
