Neil Druckmann: No Promises on The Last of Us Part 3
If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news about a potential *Part 3* video game, you might want to brace yourself. Neil Druckmann, the series' creator, has recently dampened hopes of a sequel during an interview with Variety focused mainly on the upcoming TV series adaptation. When directly questioned about *The Last of Us Part 3*, Druckmann's response was clear and disheartening:
“I was waiting for this question,” he sighed. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
While Druckmann's statement might seem definitive, it leaves room for speculation. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply engaged with their new project, *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window set for *Intergalactic*, it's evident that the studio's focus is elsewhere, potentially ruling out immediate work on *The Last of Us Part 3*. Druckmann could be playing his cards close to the chest, or he might genuinely be uncertain about the future of the series. Time might alter his stance, or he could indeed be ready to move on.
For fans still hungry for more *The Last of Us* content, the television series offers a silver lining. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. Although Druckmann mentioned uncertainty about how many seasons would be needed to cover the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive hinted in February that four seasons might be the perfect number to tell the complete tale.
