The Parabolic Microphone falls under the category of Optional Equipment in *Phasmophobia*, which means it doesn't come standard with your character. To add it to your arsenal, you'll need to reach a specific level and purchase it from the in-game Shop.
Like other equipment in *Phasmophobia*, the Parabolic Microphone comes in three tiers, each improving in quality and reliability. To unlock the first tier, you must reach Level 7 and then head to the shop to include it in your equipment loadout (as shown above).
The second tier becomes available at Level 31 and requires an investment of $3,000 to upgrade. The third and final tier unlocks at Level 72, costing $5,000 for the upgrade.
Once unlocked, you can choose any tier of the Parabolic Microphone to use, and you can equip up to two in your loadout, irrespective of the number of players in your team.
Keep in mind, if you decide to Prestige your character, resetting to Level 1 means you'll need to unlock each tier of the Parabolic Microphone again, alongside your other equipment.

Once at the location, select the Parabolic Microphone from the equipment wall in the truck to equip it, similar to any other item. Use the designated button to activate or deactivate it. If you're equipped with the tier 3 version, you can utilize the attached radar screen to pinpoint the direction of sounds (as shown above).
On medium or large maps in *Phasmophobia*, the Parabolic Microphone becomes an invaluable asset for locating the ghost through auditory cues, rather than relying solely on the temperature gauge or EMF Reader. It captures any noise produced by the ghost, be it objects being thrown, doors being moved, or the ghost's voice itself. Additionally, you might encounter an Optional Objective requiring you to capture the ghost's voice using the Parabolic Microphone, making it even more useful.
Certain ghosts like the Deogen or Banshee produce unique sounds that can only be detected by the Parabolic Microphone, aiding in their identification.
