Insomniac Games Pitched Resistance 4, But Never Got It Approved
Insomniac Games, renowned for their innovative work in the gaming industry, recently shared insights into a project that never came to fruition: Resistance 4. In a heartfelt interview with Kinda Funny Games, Ted Price, the founder and outgoing president of Insomniac, revealed that the team had pitched a fourth installment in the beloved Resistance series, but it ultimately didn't receive the green light due to timing and market conditions.
Price expressed a deep passion for the Resistance universe, highlighting the series' unique alternate history setting where the alien Chimera invade the UK in 1951. He noted that the team was eager to explore further the origins and future of the Chimera, believing that the established world provided a fertile ground for storytelling.
The Resistance franchise, which began as a follow-up to Insomniac's successful Ratchet and Clank games, consists of three first-person shooter titles developed for the PlayStation 3. Despite the series' potential, Insomniac shifted focus to other high-profile projects such as Marvel's Spider-Man and new iterations of Ratchet and Clank.
As Ted Price steps down after an impressive 30-year tenure at Insomniac, he leaves the studio in the capable hands of new Co-Studio Heads Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang. The studio's latest release, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, has recently hit the PC market, and fans are eagerly awaiting their next project, Marvel's Wolverine.
While Resistance 4 may never see the light of day, the passion and creativity behind Insomniac Games continue to drive the studio forward into new and exciting ventures.
