Horror Classic 'Dead Rising' Remastered for Modern Consoles
Capcom resurrects the original Dead Rising with a deluxe remaster! Nearly a decade after the last Dead Rising game in 2016, and following the mixed reception of Dead Rising 4, Capcom is bringing back the iconic zombie-slaying action.
The original Dead Rising, initially an Xbox 360 exclusive (2006), received an enhanced port in 2016. Meanwhile, Capcom focused considerable resources on the highly successful Resident Evil remakes and new installments, leaving Dead Rising in relative dormancy.
Now, eight years later, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is announced. A brief YouTube trailer showcases the game's opening sequence, hinting at improved visuals and performance. While platform and release date remain unconfirmed, a 2024 release is highly probable.
Capcom's Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Unveiled
While a 2016 enhanced version existed for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, this remaster promises a significant visual and performance upgrade. This raises the question: will sequels follow suit? Given Capcom's apparent preference for remasters over full-scale remakes (as seen with the Resident Evil series), a ground-up remake of the Dead Rising series seems unlikely. However, the possibility of Dead Rising 5 remains very much on the table.
2024 has already seen a wave of successful remasters and remakes, including Persona 3 Reload, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and others. Should Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster launch this year, it will join other recently remastered Xbox 360 titles like Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP.
