Hearthstone Unveils StarCraft Mini-Set: Release Date Announced
Hearthstone enthusiasts, mark your calendars! The much-anticipated Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set is set to launch on January 21, bringing with it the largest Mini-Set in the game's history, featuring a whopping 49 new cards. This exciting addition to The Great Dark Beyond expansion not only bridges Hearthstone with the beloved StarCraft universe but also introduces a blend of class-specific and multi-class cards tied to the iconic StarCraft factions: Zerg, Protoss, and Terran.
During the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, Hearthstone unveiled the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, teasing fans with a crossover that celebrates Blizzard's rich science fiction RTS legacy. After months of anticipation, the full details have now been revealed. The Mini-Set comprises 49 cards, including 11 more than typical sets, with each Hearthstone class receiving three cards. Additionally, the three StarCraft factions contribute five cards each, designed for specific classes, one of which is a Legendary card. Rounding off the set is a single neutral Legendary card, Grunty. Hearthstone has already showcased some of these cards, with more reveals scheduled in the lead-up to the launch.
Hearthstone Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set Release Date
- January 21The Zerg cards, tailored for Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize the creation of numerous Zerglings and leveraging the Hydralisk's ability to deal damage based on swarm size. On the other hand, the Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue focus on mana manipulation, enabling players to deploy high-cost cards like the Carrier more efficiently. Meanwhile, the Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes get enhanced with new Starship mechanics from The Great Dark Beyond, including new Starship Pieces and strategies for launching multiple Starships, complete with a special Mech-type Starship.
While the larger size of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set is exciting, it does come with a higher price. Players can acquire a complete playset for $20 or 2500 gold, which is a $5 and 500 gold increase over standard Mini-Sets. For collectors, the all-Golden version is available for $80 or 12,000 gold, up from the usual $70 and 10,000 gold. Alternatively, fans can purchase faction-specific packs for the Protoss, Terran, or Zerg for $10 or 1200 gold, offering more flexibility in building their decks.
To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two special streaming events: StarCast and HearthCraft. StarCast, airing on January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature renowned StarCraft players TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards. Following that, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in exciting matches and mini-games.
