GTA 6 Fall 2025 Release Date Window Seems Likelier and Likelier
Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind Grand Theft Auto VI, is increasingly confident in a Fall 2025 release window. Let's delve into the details surrounding this highly anticipated title and the overall success of Take-Two's portfolio.
Take-Two Interactive Poised for a Record-Breaking Year
GTA 6: Still Targeting Fall 2025
Grand Theft Auto VI remains on track for a Fall 2025 launch. During their Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed this target.
CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed strong confidence, while acknowledging the inherent risks in development timelines: "Look, there's always a risk of slippage... We feel really good about it," he stated regarding the Fall 2025 window. He remained tight-lipped on specific development details, emphasizing Rockstar's dedication to quality and the competitive landscape.
Take-Two Interactive's Packed 2025 Release Schedule
Zelnick highlighted the significant impact of 2025 on Take-Two's performance, citing the early access launch of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII (with full release February 11th), Mafia: The Old Country (Summer release), Grand Theft Auto VI (Fall release), and Borderlands 4 (before year-end). He expressed considerable optimism about the commercial potential of these titles. Take-Two projects record-breaking net bookings in fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
GTA 5's Continued Dominance
The Grand Theft Auto franchise continues its reign as Take-Two's flagship title, boasting over 210 million units sold worldwide. GTA Online also delivered a strong quarter, fueled by the "Agents of Sabotage" update and continued growth of the GTA+ membership program (a 10% year-over-year increase).
Other key titles also performed exceptionally well. NBA 2K25 surpassed 7 million units sold, showing significant increases in player engagement metrics. Red Dead Redemption 2, with over 70 million units sold, continues to thrive, benefiting from ongoing updates to Red Dead Online, currently enjoying record concurrent player numbers on Steam (99,993 according to SteamDB).
Setting the Record Straight: Steven Ogg on Trevor
Addressing persistent rumors, GTA V's Trevor actor, Steven Ogg, clarified his feelings towards the character in an interview on the Inside You podcast. He dispelled the notion that he dislikes the role, explaining that his aversion is simply to being called "Trevor" outside of his work. He emphasized his positive experience and ongoing friendships with his co-stars. While he previously speculated about Trevor's potential (and demise) in GTA VI, he confirmed he hasn't been involved in the sequel's production.
While GTA VI is slated for Fall 2025, a precise release date remains unannounced. Stay tuned for further updates.
