Gran Saga Shuts Down Next Month

Author : Michael Update : May 04,2025

NPIXEL has officially announced the closure of Gran Saga, concluding its brief international journey. The game's services will cease on April 30th, 2025, and in-app purchases (IAPs) along with new downloads have already been disabled.

Gran Saga enjoyed a successful launch in Japan back in 2021, but its global release in November 2024 was short-lived, lasting only six months before the shutdown was announced. The primary reasons for this closure appear to be financial instability and challenges in maintaining a sustainable service. Despite an initial positive reception, Gran Saga struggled to establish a significant presence in the fiercely competitive global market.

The mobile gaming landscape is dominated by well-established titles with loyal fanbases, which poses a significant challenge for newcomers. Gran Saga's early success in Japan did not translate internationally, leading to its early demise.

ytGran Saga's closure is part of a broader trend affecting gacha RPGs. Just last month, I discussed the shutdown of My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, which was one of several similar games that couldn't withstand the pressures of a saturated market. With so many options available, players tend to remain loyal to known titles, making it difficult for new or niche games to sustain long-term engagement.

Players who have recently made purchases and wish to request a refund can do so until May 30th. However, refunds may not be possible if the items have already been used or due to other store policies.

For those who have spent time in Ethprozen, saying goodbye is undoubtedly difficult, but this scenario is increasingly common in the mobile gaming industry.
