Google Play Store Might Soon Auto-Launch Installed Apps For You
Have you ever downloaded an app and then completely forgotten to open it? While I haven't personally experienced this, the Google Play Store might have the perfect solution. An upcoming feature is reportedly in the works that will automatically launch newly installed apps.
What's the Deal?
According to Android Authority, Google Play is developing a feature to streamline the app installation process. This potential addition would automatically open apps immediately after download completion. No more searching for icons or wondering about download status – the app will launch directly upon completion.
However, this is based on an APK teardown of Play Store version 41.4.19, meaning it's not officially confirmed, and a release date is unknown. If implemented, the feature will be called "App Auto Open" and importantly, it will be entirely optional. Users can enable or disable the auto-launch function as desired.
The functionality is straightforward: a notification banner will appear for approximately five seconds at the top of your screen when an app download finishes. Your phone may also ring or vibrate, ensuring you won't miss it, even if momentarily distracted.
Again, this information is unofficial, and a release date remains unannounced. We'll update you as soon as Google provides official confirmation.
