Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
Fallout 76's latest update, "The Ghoul Within," is now live, enabling players to explore Appalachia as a Ghoul. Announced on Bethesda's website on March 18, Season 20 brings a host of ghoul-related features, mechanics, and new cosmetics to enhance your C.A.M.P.
In this update, players can undergo Ghoulification by completing the "Leap of Faith" questline. This journey leads to a new area in the Savage Divide, where players meet unique characters aiding in their transformation. As a Ghoul, players gain exclusive abilities like Glow and Feral, along with access to 30 new Ghoul-specific Perks.
The Feral ability replaces traditional hunger and thirst mechanics, offering boosts based on the Feral meter's level. At 0%, players experience significant gameplay changes, including a +150% increase in Melee Damage, but also suffer from reduced Endurance, Charisma, Max HP, Max AP, and drastically lowered Hip-fire and V.A.T.S. Accuracy.
The Glow ability allows players to consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and causing them to emit a glow. This ability boosts maximum health, heals damage, and enhances Ghoul-exclusive Perks, or "Gherks."
Players can choose from 28 perks and two new legendary perks designed specifically for Ghouls. Note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance are unavailable to Ghouls, as they do not benefit from these.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Navigating the radiation-filled wasteland becomes easier as a Ghoul, thanks to the new abilities and Gherks. However, certain factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may react hostilely, potentially blocking access to some questlines.
To circumvent these restrictions, players can use disguises provided by a new NPC, Jaye, allowing interaction with previously inaccessible content. If the Ghoul lifestyle doesn't suit you, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen, though this is a one-way decision. Reverting back to a Ghoul requires purchasing the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
New and veteran players can now accelerate their journey with the Level 50 Character Boost, available for 1500 Atoms in the Season 20 update. This boost equips players with the necessary perks and boosts to dive straight into multiplayer features like Daily Ops, Public Events, and select story content.
The update also includes various bug fixes, balance adjustments, accessibility improvements, combat tweaks, and weapon damage modifications. Bethesda has also teased the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update, set for April 29, as part of their season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome initial challenges and now boasts a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of reviews being positive. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
