Paradox Interactive has unveiled its latest grand strategy game, Europa Universalis 5, following a teaser last week. The company, renowned for titles like Cities: Skylines, Crusader Kings, and Stellaris, introduced the game with a captivating cinematic trailer. Developed by Paradox Tinto in Barcelona, Spain, the team behind Europa Universalis 4, this new installment promises to be the most expansive and detailed in the series. Although a release date remains undisclosed, the Europa Universalis 5 Steam page is now live.

"Challenge your strategic skills over 500 years of history, in Europa Universalis 5, the latest version of the celebrated grand strategy game," Paradox states. "Master the arts of war, trade, diplomacy, and government in the largest and most detailed Europa Universalis game ever. Guide the destiny of any of hundreds of nations and societies in a simulated living world of unparalleled depth and complexity."

PlayEuropa Universalis 5 has been in development for over five years, with Paradox Tinto focusing on creating an experience tailored for dedicated Paradox fans. The team incorporated more than a year of public feedback, emphasizing that player input has significantly shaped "the largest and most detailed Europa Universalis game ever made."

Set to begin at the start of the Hundred Years' War in 1337, players will navigate through pivotal historical events with a suite of new features. Key highlights include a larger, more accurate map with hundreds of diverse societies, a population-based system, and enhanced production and trade mechanics. Players can develop their nations by constructing farms, plantations, and factories, or engage in trade with neighboring regions.

This strategy game aims to offer players unparalleled freedom in building and managing their nations. Last week's tease hinted at an ambitious project, though fans had largely anticipated the announcement.
