Elden Ring Update: Iconic Feature Removed

Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove the in-game messaging feature, a departure from previous FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign matches last approximately forty minutes, leaving insufficient time for players to leave or read messages.

"Given the roughly forty-minute session length," Ishizaki stated, "there's simply not enough time to send or check messages, so we disabled the feature."

This change is notable, considering the significant role messaging has played in fostering player interaction and enjoyment in past FromSoftware games. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. It promises a fresh adventure filled with unique challenges and encounters, while preserving the distinctive atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring universe.
