Exploring Dynasty Warriors: Origins' overworld offers valuable rewards for future battles. While Pyroxene farming yields gems, you'll also discover Old Coins, whose purpose isn't immediately apparent.
Numerous Old Coins are scattered throughout the game (hundreds in total). Here's their use and acquisition methods.
What To Use Old Coins For In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Old Coins are unusable in Chapter 1; focus on the main story. After Chapter 2, complete these main story battles:
- Suppression of You Province
- Suppression of Jing Province
- Suppression of Liang Province
Completing these battles leads you back to Ji, where you'll meet Sima Hui. After the conversation and obtaining incense for the Innkeeper, the Shui Jing Retreat unlocks near Ji. Here, you can exchange Old Coins with Sima Hui. You can also review bonds and past interactions.
Rewards are tied to specific Old Coin milestones; redeem them whenever possible.

With 500 Old Coins to find, avoid early farming; more methods unlock naturally. Acquisition methods include:
- Overworld discovery.
- Companion and officer Bond Interactions.
- Inn letters after story events.
- Regional Peace waypoint rewards.
Overworld Old Coin icons are small and only appear up close, unlike Pyroxene. The rewards vary in utility; focus on gameplay, and the coins will accumulate.
