How Doctor Doom 2099 Works in Marvel Snap

Doctor Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card." DoomBot 2099 (also 4-cost, 2-power) provides an ongoing buff: "Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power." This synergy extends to regular Doctor Doom, making him even stronger.

The strategy revolves around playing exactly one card per turn after summoning Doom 2099. Perfect execution yields a potent 17-power card (or more with early plays or Magik). However, two drawbacks exist: DoomBot 2099 placement is random, potentially hindering your strategy, and Enchantress completely negates their power boost.

Best Doctor Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap

Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement makes Spectrum-style Ongoing decks highly effective. Here's a budget-friendly example:

Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Onslaught (Copyable list available on Untapped)

This deck offers flexibility. Early Doom 2099 plays (aided by Psylocke or Electro) maximize power. Alternatively, focus on spreading Doctor Doom's power or leveraging Spectrum's buffs if early Doom 2099 placement isn't ideal. Cosmo protects against Enchantress.

Another strong contender is a Patriot-style deck:

Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum (Copyable list available on Untapped)

This budget-friendly deck utilizes Patriot's synergy, with early game cards like Mister Sinister and Brood, transitioning to Doom 2099 and powerful late-game cards like Blue Marvel and Doctor Doom. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards for added flexibility. Note that this deck is vulnerable to Enchantress, but Super Skrull offers counterplay against other Doom 2099 decks. Strategic skipping of DoomBot 2099 spawns allows for two 3-cost cards on the final turn (e.g., Patriot and a discounted Iron Lad).

Is Doctor Doom 2099 Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099) are relatively weak, Doctor Doom 2099 is a worthwhile investment. His power and deck-building flexibility suggest he'll be a meta staple. Using Collector's Tokens is preferable, but don't hesitate to acquire him. He's predicted to be one of Marvel Snap's best cards, barring nerfs.
