Divinity: Original Sin 2 - How To Get The Ship Moving
Quick Links
After escaping Fort Joy and having your Source collar removed in Divinity: Original Sin 2, you find yourself aboard the Elven ship, Lady Vengeance. Your goal is to set this ship in motion, but since it's no ordinary vessel, you won't be able to control it from the helm. Instead, you need to embark on a unique quest to get the Lady Vengeance sailing.
To achieve this, you'll need to explore the ship thoroughly, engage with the NPCs and potential companions onboard, and gather crucial information about the ship's control mechanism. Your ultimate aim is to access Magister Dallis' cabin, find the Ancient Songbook, and sing the song to the ship. If you're unsure how to proceed, follow this detailed guide to help you navigate this chapter successfully.
Investigate Dead Bodies On The Ship
Getting the Lady Vengeance to sail is like solving a complex puzzle, with clues scattered throughout the ship. Start your investigation by looting the bodies of magisters and gheists on the deck. You'll find valuables and important clues, including a Sodden Diary on one of the dead magisters. This diary contains the password needed to unlock a special door in the ship's cabin.
You can also obtain the password to the Stateroom Door by passing a skill check when interacting with the northern Stateroom Door.
In addition to the password, you'll need a Strange Gem to interact with the Portside Stateroom door.
A short distance south of the stateroom doors, you'll find a magic mirror. This mirror allows you to respec your character and companions indefinitely. If you need to pass a skill check to persuade the second stateroom door for the password, consider using the magic mirror to reallocate your ability points.
Find The Portside Stateroom Door In The Ship's Quarters
Armed with the password, head to the ship's quarters to find the next item needed to interact with the Portside Stateroom door. While exploring, take the opportunity to interact with the NPCs and consider inviting suitable companions to join your party.
To the west of the cabin, you'll find an unconscious Bishop Alexander wearing a Source collar. To the east, you'll see a pair of mysterious Stateroom doors.
Before approaching the Stateroom doors, go to Bishop Alexander and choose the option to "Look closely at his simple Regalia." This will reveal the Strange Gem, which you should add to your inventory. Then, head back east to the Stateroom doors.
Interact with the southern door, which will recognize the Strange Gem in your possession. To unlock it, use the password "Fortitude," which you learned from the Sodden Diary. This will grant you access to Magister Dallis' cabin, where you'll find the next crucial item to solve the puzzle.
Inside Dallis' cabin, you'll also discover a hidden hatch containing two deadly gheists and a Teleportation Prism.
Finding The Ancient Empire Songbook To Get The Ship Moving
Once inside Magister Dallis' cabin, you'll meet Tarquin, another key NPC. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with him before exploring further. The cabin is small, making it easy to locate the Ancient Empire Songbook, which sits on a pedestal in the center. Reading the songbook will prompt a comment from your character about the cryptic text.
Before moving the ship, take the time to speak with all NPCs, as you won't be able to interact with them or swap companions once the ship starts sailing.
Getting The Ship Moving
With the song learned, return to the ship's deck and inform Malady that you've found the tome. She'll ask you to sing the song to the ship. Head to the west side of the deck to find the dragon figurine. Interact with it and choose the option to sing the song. The Lady Vengeance will respond, allowing you to learn more about the ship before setting sail on your next adventure as a Godwoken.
Be prepared for an immediate ambush by powerful magisters after getting the ship moving. Ensure your party is well-prepared and has enough companions to face this challenging battle.
